MY VIEWS

"I believe in common sense politics. We can achieve so much more with a fresh approach defined by a pragmatic outlook and team work."

Farming and Agriculture

Food security is going to become an increasingly prominent issue. Britain’s countryside is perfectly designed to feed its people with a balance of great pasture and arable land. I want to see this harnessed appropriately to guarantee our position in the food markets.
I want to address rural poverty, a subject lost in the national crisis of the ‘credit crunch’. I support all countryside pursuits and I intend to play a key role in safeguarding their future. I want to tackle the continual decline of our diary herds and see this worrying trend reversed which unchecked will see increasing quantities of milk imported from abroad.

Red Tape

I would like to see a significant reduction in red tape and form filling for all businesses, large or small. This will allow our entrepreneurs more time to focus on the success of their venture instead of being weighed down by bureaucracy.

Housing

The issue of affordable housing needs to be addressed. Hard working individuals and families are struggling to get their foot on the property ladder in the areas where they have grown up and worked. Developments should not be isolated from communities but nor should the beauty of the countryside be compromised. We must ensure that the infrastructure is there to support any potential development.

Education, Healthcare and Vital Services

These services should be available to all, equally. Investment is only half the story. I want to tackle these issues from a people perspective. If we strip away Government interference we can allow those skilled and experienced in their specialist fields to drive forward the improvements we need.

Local Services

I have a proven track record when it comes to campaigning against post office closures and the erosion of public transport in rural areas. I will continue to do so until a satisfactory outcome is achieved.
